At least 12 people, including nine civilians, were killed in Russian air raids on Sunday, November 17, in the northwestern Idlib province, largely controlled by jihadists, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. man (OSDH).

The Russian air force conducted around 30 air raids Sunday against a dozen localities in the province of Idleb. In parallel, the Syrian helicopters dropped about twenty barrels of explosives on a dozen targets in the same province and in the mountains west of Latakia , controlled by jihadist groups. More than 300 shells and rockets have also been fired at these areas in the past 24 hours.
The truce announced by Russia on August 31 is very fragile. Large ground operations remain limited, but bombing and air raids are intensifying every day. Since early November, 48 civilians have been killed in Russian and Syrian strikes in northwestern Syria after a relative lull of two months.
The truce followed a four-month offensive by the Syrian army that killed more than 4,500 people, including nearly 1,200 civilians.
Idleb's shelling intensified after a visit by the Syrian president to the province on October 22. Speaking to his troops, Bashar al-Assad said the battle of Idleb was the key to ending the war that has been raging in the country since 2011.
