In Syria, a ceasefire came into effect Saturday (August 31st) in the northwestern Idleb region. This truce only concerns the Syrian army and is a respite for the 3 million people still living in this bastion dominated by jihadists and Syrian rebels.

For several months, an offensive by the Russian army and the regime's army has killed nearly 900 people and left hundreds wounded. They are treated in what is left of the hospitals of the region. Our journalists went to one of these centers in Atma. They met these Idleb survivors.

In the last four months, Russian and Syrian air raids have intensified the bombing, and according to one nurse interviewed, the number of patients has almost doubled in this facility

"We had 15 to 16,000 patients a month, but now we're over 25,000 because of the new IDPs, and further south of Idleb, 30 to 40 hospitals and clinics have been bombed and a lot of 'between them are no longer able to treat the wounded,' says the professional.

Wounded people from cities like Saraqeb, where our reporters also went, in the eastern part of Idleb, not far from the front line.

" Here, there is no opposition, no rebellion, it's just a house"

A time famous for its cotton and embroidery, Saraqeb is today a ghost town

The house of Abu Ziad has just suffered an air strike. No death to be deplored this time, just a field of ruins.

"I worked forty years as a teacher to save and build my house, and now my children and I are homeless, here there is no opposition, no rebellion, no resistance, it's just a house, "he says.

Cease fire or not, for many people in Saraqeb or elsewhere who have no roof, it is anyway impossible to go home.

At least 40 jihadist leaders were killed Saturday in a missile attack that targeted their meeting in a military camp near Idleb, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (OSDH) said late -midday.

The London-based NGO, which relies on a vast network of sources in Syria, was unable to immediately identify the origin of the shots or "whether it was air raids or of a long-range missile attack ".
