the mayor of the commune Elisabeth Schneider.

And in the end, Alsace wins again!

For the fourth time in eleven editions of the program

The Favorite Village of the French

, a town in the region was crowned Wednesday evening on France 3.

After Eguisheim in 2013, Kaysersberg in 2017 and Hunspach in 2020, this time Bergheim was acclaimed.

To the great joy of some 2,300 inhabitants of the village, many of whom were gathered in front of the giant screen in the communal hall

Located on the wine route in the Haut-Rhin, Bergheim was ahead of Hesdin, in the Hauts-de-France.

With what advantages?

Its surrounding vines, its half-timbered houses, its geraniums in the windows but not only.

Bergheim is fortified with very well preserved medieval ramparts.

It is possible to go around it in a big half-hour walk.

This will also allow you to admire, on the way, the remarkable high door of the 14th century.

Not to mention this 700-year-old lime tree, which is hard to miss.

"In Alsace, there is real attention paid to the house, we don't laugh with the building, we take care of it", explained to

last March Pascal Bernard, general delegate to the association "The most beautiful villages of France ".

“It is in our culture to pay attention to heritage, to renovate roads, to enhance our property,” confirmed Elisabeth Schneider, the mayor of Bergheim.

Almost four months later, the mayor of Bergheim obviously does not hide her “joy” this Thursday morning.

“We had the enormous support of all lovers of Alsace”, she welcomes, speaking of a huge “effervescence” since the announcement on Wednesday evening.

She logically expects a new influx of tourists thanks to this success.

“We were told that we would have 30% more visitors.

We who until then had a certain confidentiality which made our charm, I hope that will not change too much.

Bergheim should find it all the more difficult to escape the radar as she has obtained another distinction in recent days.

The association "The most beautiful villages of France" has also labeled it among its now 168 members.

Three other municipalities were also entitled to this recognition, synonymous with appearance in the eponymous guide.

These are Beaulieu-sur-Dordogne (Corrèze), Martel and Rocamadour (Lot).

“All we need is the Oscar!

“, concludes with a smile the mayor of Bergheim.
