The UFC-Que Choisir recently sent a formal notice to the online sales platform Vinted.

The consumer defense association criticizes the site and the app for their opacity regarding the commissions charged to buyers during each transaction, reports

.

She explained the reasons for her action in a “#VigilanceConso” video posted on Twitter this Saturday.

The association recalls that in addition to the price of the item purchased, the millions of users of the app are charged 5% of the amount of the transaction.

A fixed sum of 70 euro cents is systematically added to it.

The total appears on the invoice as the cost of “buyer protection”.

According to the UFC-Que Choisir, it is in fact a “tendentious name”.

A compulsory commission

The services of this protection would be neither more nor less than basic functionalities, present on other platforms of this type.

"It's not protection in case of litigation," the video reads.

The UFC-Que Choisir also explained that, contrary to what Vinted indicates, this commission is not optional.

These are actually fees necessary to be able to use the site.

The organization therefore believes that Vinted needed to be more transparent.

He asked the site "to clearly indicate that it takes a commission in return for the use" of its services and to highlight its mandatory nature.

The association announced that it had accompanied its formal notice with a report to the Directorate General for Competition, Consumer Affairs and Fraud Control (DGCCRF).
