Halle (dpa / sa) - At the end of the modernization work at the main train station in Halle, the four-day closures begin today.

According to Deutsche Bahn, travelers should prepare for diversions, cancellations, replacement bus services and changed train travel times.

From 6 a.m., the west side of the main train station is to be closed first.

On January 16 and 17, train traffic at the main station will come to a complete standstill, said a rail spokesman.

In long-distance traffic, the ICE line between Frankfurt and Berlin will be rerouted via Leipzig Central Station.

The ICE, which runs between Munich and Hamburg, will be diverted from Erfurt, so that there will be no stop at the main station in Halle.

In addition, there will be extensive restrictions on regional and S-Bahn traffic on Thursday and Friday.

The particularly heavily used S3 and S5 lines would generally run on Thursday and Friday, the train spokesman said.

However, between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m., operations stop here too.
