  • The 45-year-old suspect who killed a HRD in Ardèche and a Pôle Emploi advisor in Drôme last Thursday is also accused of attempting to assassinate a HRD in Haut-Rhin on January 26.

  • This victim worked in the past with a HRD from the Grand-Est, murdered last Tuesday at his workplace.

  • For these facts, the link with the killer of Valence has been confirmed by a source close to the investigation but there is for the moment no material elements certain to incriminate him.

The victim, who saw a pizza delivery boy unloading at her house, narrowly escaped a dramatic outcome.

The Mulhouse prosecutor's office confirmed on Monday the "link" between the alleged murderer of a HRD and an employee of Pôle Emploi, Thursday in Drôme and Ardèche, and an assassination attempt of a HRD last Tuesday in Wattwiller (Haut-Rhin).

"It appeared that the facts which occurred on the evening of January 26 in Wattwiller (...) had a link with the murderous journey" in Valence and in the Drôme, indicated the prosecutor of the Republic of Mulhouse, Edwige Roux- Morizot, during a press conference.

The investigations carried out made it possible "to ensure this link in an almost certain way" between Gabriel Fortin, the alleged murderer of a HRD and an employee of Pôle Emploi on Thursday, and the DNA found on the spot in Wattwiller, added the prosecutor.

DNA of suspect discovered

Tuesday evening, in this town located west of Mulhouse, a man came to ring the doorbell of the victim's home.

“He's going to open it, a man is in the doorway with a surgical mask, a cap and a box of pizza.

The person first checks his identity, the victim answers and, at that moment, he hears a gunshot, which did not hit him, ”said the public prosecutor.

The author of the shot then wanted to escape and the victim pursued him.

A brawl between the two men took place and, in the scuffle, the gunman's mask and glasses were torn off.

"The unique DNA" found on its two objects "made it possible to make a link with the double assassination" of Valence and Drôme, indicated Mrs. Roux-Morizot, who, once the investigation work completed, will relinquish jurisdiction for the benefit of the parquet of Valence.

The two HRDs of Haut-Rhin worked together

On the other hand, "for the moment, there is no certain material proof to make a link between what happened in Colmar and (Wattwiller), even if we know" that the two victims were " in connection ”and“ had worked together ”, added the prosecutor, in reference to the assassination of a HRD of 39 years, which occurred on January 26 in the Grand-Est.

This Tuesday evening, the body of a woman shot dead, also responsible for human resources, was found in her car in the parking lot of her company in Wolfgantzen (Haut-Rhin), near Colmar.

According to a source close to the investigation, the police have also established a link with Gabriel Fortin, but this link has not yet been confirmed by the public prosecutor of Valence or by the prosecutor of Colmar.

This victim, mother of a family, was a former colleague of the man who narrowly escaped death.

The latter is "a HRD who had worked at Francel during 2008", a company in Eure-et-Loir which had dismissed Gabriel Fortin.

"An individual dismissal for fault" and not a dismissal within the framework of a social plan, specified Mrs. Edwige Roux-Morizot, according to the statements of the victim of Wattwiller.

The victim did not recognize his attacker that same evening, but then made the connection, when his name was released, after his arrest.

The 45-year-old unemployed engineer, who remained silent in police custody, was indicted on Saturday for assassinations and placed in pre-trial detention.
