After the fatal knife attack on a 13-year-old in Sinsheim, the urgently suspected 14-year-old denies the act.
The Heidelberg public prosecutor announced on Friday that he protested his innocence when the arrest warrant was opened.
After the autopsy result, the 13-year-old died of "bleeding to death inside".
Behind the act are jealousy disputes over a 12-year-old girl.
The 14-year-old was arrested on Wednesday with a kitchen knife in hand next to the bodies of the boy and the girl in the Eschelbach district.
The 14-year-old had seriously injured a classmate with a knife at a secondary school in Östringen (Karlsruhe district) last November.
Family court was not turned on
The responsible youth welfare office in the Rhein-Neckar district did not turn on the family court after this first knife attack.
According to the responsible regional court in Heidelberg, the family court deals with cases of danger to the child's well-being.
In this case, however, from the point of view of the youth welfare office, neither deprivation of custody for the widowed mother nor forced placement of the boy were necessary, said the court spokesman.
Such serious steps require judicial approval.

About a week after receiving the files from the public prosecutor's office, the family court approached the youth welfare office in mid-January to find out about the measures taken.
A few days before the offense, another routine request was sent to the youth welfare office.
The letter probably did not reach the authorities before the act.
