Recently, the national second-level protected animal and the East Asian population of only more than 100 Curl feather pelicans visited Yinchuan again. This is the second year in the history of Yinchuan Yellow River wetland that the trace of the curl feather pelicans has been monitored.

At present, this species has been included in the Red Book of Endangered Birds of the World by the International Commission for the Protection of Birds.

  As an important migration route and habitat for birds in Western China and East Asia-Australia, Ningxia always attracts many migratory birds every year.

At present, more than 320 kinds of birds have chosen to settle down in Ningxia and breed their offspring.

During the migratory bird migration period, there are millions of birds passing through Ningxia.

Black storks, relict gulls, white-shouldered eagles, white-tailed sea eagles, creeping cranes, grey cranes, swans, pochard ducks...In the four seasons, many endangered birds fly in the sky and inhabit for food in many wetlands in Ningxia, becoming a beautiful Landscape.

  "Although it is far inland in the northwest, Ningxia has long become a'bird paradise'." Wei Xiaoning, director of the Ningxia Wetland Conservation and Management Center, told reporters.

  Take the black stork as an example. This national first-class protected animal known as the "Panda in the Bird" is an endangered rare bird in the world, with a total of more than 3,000 in the world, and only more than 1,000 in China.

Monitoring by the Ningxia Wetland Protection and Management Center shows that black storks are increasing in Ningxia year by year, especially this year, black storks frequently appear in various wetlands in Ningxia.

  "This year, we have monitored black storks in Longde, Jingyuan, Zhongwei, Huinong and other places for the first time. In May and June, 15 black storks were monitored for the first time in the Helan section of the Yellow River wetland in Yinchuan and gave birth to new lives. On November 10, we monitored 48 black storks in the flood discharge dam wetland of Zhenbeibao Reservoir in Xixia District, Yinchuan. This is the largest group of black storks found so far. On November 11, in the southern part of Shizuishan Xinghai Lake National Wetland Park 14 wetlands were monitored. On December 1, we also monitored 16 wetlands in the Yellow River tidal flats in the Meijiawan section of the Wuzhong Yellow River National Wetland Park." Wei Xiaoning said that the population of black storks in Ningxia this year has exceeded 100.

  In recent years, Ningxia has continuously increased its wetland protection and restoration efforts. In 2019, Ningxia issued the "Ningxia Wetland Park Management Measures" and the "Ningxia Important Wetland List and Management Measures".

Up to now, Ningxia has established a total of 30 wetland nature reserves, including 4 wetland nature reserves (1 at the national level and 3 at the autonomous region level) and 26 wetland parks (14 at the national level and 12 at the autonomous region level) .

At the same time, Ningxia released 6 national lists of important wetlands, and released a total of 31 lists of important wetlands in the first and second batches of autonomous regions. A wetland protection system with wetland nature reserves and wetland parks as the mainstay and important wetlands at all levels has been formed. The protection rate of wetlands in the whole region has reached 55%.
