The affair had had a strong impact at the time.

A 44-year-old woman, suspected of having killed her three children in April 2018 in Mérignac in the suburbs of Bordeaux, was found dead in her cell at Gradignan prison on the night of Saturday to Sunday.

According to

Sud Ouest

, it was his fellow prisoner who made the macabre discovery.

The woman "presents a section of the femoral artery as well as a groin injury", indicates the Bordeaux prosecutor's office at

20 Minutes

.

The first elements of the investigation suggest that she probably killed herself, perhaps with a pair of scissors.

An autopsy will take place Tuesday "to confirm the exact causes of death," said the prosecution.

This former nurse at Bordeaux University Hospital was suspected of having killed her three children, aged 5, 8 and 9 in April 2018, by administering a powerful anesthetic to them before drowning them.

She herself had been found unconscious in a room in the family home in Mérignac, with a letter in which she expressed her "ill-being".

After having confessed, she was awaiting trial before the assizes of the Gironde.
