The number of patients with Covid-19 in intensive care continued to increase on Tuesday, to 3,918, including 421 admitted in the last 24 hours, according to hospital data published by the health authorities.

The number of patients in sheaves, the service which receives the most serious cases, has increased by 69 in 24 hours.

A week ago it stood at 3,586.

Lowered below the 2,600 mark at the beginning of January, this indicator has continued to rise since then and is now at the level of the end of November.

299 deaths in 24 hours

However, it is still far from the peak of the second wave in autumn (4,900 in mid-November) and the first wave in spring (7,000 in early April).

In total, 25,201 patients were hospitalized on Tuesday across France, including 1,810 who arrived in the last 24 hours.

Nearly 300 Covid-19 patients (299) died in hospital between Monday and Tuesday.

France has more than 89,000 dead since the start of the epidemic.
