Dresden (dpa / sn) - Due to rising corona numbers, Saxony currently sees no scope for further corona easing.
Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer (CDU) made this clear before the new federal-state consultations on the corona rate on Monday.
In retrospect, he sees the easing agreed on March 3 as a mistake.
In view of the development in Saxony, Kretschmer feels that this has been confirmed.
Rather, there must now be a "rapid and as large as possible reduction in mobility and contacts," he tweeted at the weekend.
On Sunday, with the cities of Dresden and Leipzig, only 2 of the 13 regions in the Free State were below a seven-day incidence of 100. Nationwide, the value was 145.2 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within one week.
Vogtland has long been one of the hotspots of the pandemic in Germany and most recently had an incidence value of 376.1.
The neighboring countries of Saxony, the Czech Republic and Poland, are classified as high-risk areas.
This is another reason why Kretschmer is stepping on the brakes when it comes to loosening up.
