The empowerment of new infrastructure, the accelerated implementation of applications, and the reverse of the epidemic will all promote the continued acceleration of the digital transformation of Chinese companies in 2021.

New infrastructure investment will increase

In 2020, China will accelerate the construction of new infrastructure to provide a digital “base” for industrial transformation.

Infrastructure such as 5G, industrial Internet, data centers, computing centers, UHV, and rail transit have become the focus of investment in various regions.

The Bank of China Research Institute estimates that the total scale of investment in the seven key areas of "new infrastructure" in 2020 will be about 1.2 trillion yuan (RMB, the same below).

So far, China has added 580,000 5G base stations, building the world's largest 5G network; 5G+ industrial Internet projects have exceeded 1,100; as of September, 42,000 new energy vehicle charging stations and 1.42 million charging piles have been built.

The trend of new infrastructure as an investment focus will continue in 2021.

The recent Central Economic Work Conference proposed that "a higher-level dynamic balance of demand-driven supply and supply-creating demand should be formed" "we must vigorously develop the digital economy and increase investment in new infrastructure."

Analysts believe that the meeting again mentioned increasing investment in new infrastructure, mainly referring to technological infrastructure such as 5G, industrial Internet and big data centers, and investment in new infrastructure and manufacturing will increase.

As a new infrastructure engine, 5G will enter the stage of large-scale deployment.

Wen Ku, director of the Information and Communication Development Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China, also said that 5G was built "moderately ahead of time."

Digital empowerment accelerates landing

In 2020, the application of "5G+Industrial Internet" integrating machine vision, VR (virtual reality), Internet of Things and other information technologies will exceed expectations.

Liu Liehong, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, introduced that China’s industrial Internet integration and innovation has been unprecedentedly active in the past year, with applications covering more than 30 key industries in the national economy, and six typical models have emerged, including digital R&D, intelligent production, networked collaboration, personalized customization, Service-oriented extension and lean management.

For example, in the field of digital R&D, the penetration rate of digital R&D design tools for enterprises above designated size exceeds 71%. Based on new technologies such as digital twins, leading companies organically combine numbers, experience, and technology to greatly improve the efficiency of R&D.

The landing of "5G + Industrial Internet" also exceeded expectations.

In a series of projects such as the smart port of Qingdao, the quality inspection of the large aircraft C919, the drone inspection of China Southern Power Grid, and the remote driving mining card of Yangmei Group, machine vision inspection, precise remote control, on-site auxiliary assembly, and intelligent tally Logistics, unmanned inspection and security have become typical application scenarios.

Wenku said that these application scenarios are clear and the speed of landing will accelerate in the future.

Digital industrialization will also accelerate

There are two paths for accelerating the development of the digital economy, one is industrial digitization, and the other is digital industrialization.

In addition to accelerating the digital transformation of industries, the development of China's digital industrialization will also accelerate.

Wang Zhijun, Deputy Minister of Industry and Information Technology, stated that China will accelerate the development of 5G, integrated circuits, industrial Internet, artificial intelligence, big data, cloud computing, ultra-high-definition video, high-end equipment, new energy and intelligent connected vehicles, new materials, biomedicine and high-end medical care Equipment and other emerging industrial chains will build new advantages for future competition.

In 2020, many Chinese companies have been suppressed, exposing the shortcomings of the "lack of cores and less souls" in the Chinese information industry.

In 2021, China will focus on solving a number of "stuck neck" problems, improve the security level of the industrial chain and supply chain, and take the initiative in development.

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China will organize the implementation of industrial infrastructure reengineering projects.

Focus on the bottlenecks and shortcomings in the basic field, increase the research on key products and key core technologies, and promote the advanced level of the industrial foundation.

Industrial ecology is also the key.

Wang Zhijun said that we will become bigger and stronger a group of key enterprises with high industrial relevance and strong innovation ability, and use key enterprises to drive the development of small, medium and micro enterprises, and build a new industry ecosystem featuring large, medium, small and micro enterprises specialized division of labor and joint development.
