[Explanation] This year, focusing on the scientific research project of the new crown pneumonia epidemic, the team of Professor Wang Kai from the School of Medical Engineering and Technology of Xinjiang Medical University created a transcript that has attracted the attention of the domestic biomathematics field-10 months, published 10 papers by SCI ( Science Citation Index).

Usually, publishing a high-quality SCI paper often requires long-term research, experimentation and demonstration.

It is not easy for Wang Kai's team to be so "high-yield" a year.

[Explanation] Recently, the reporter met Professor Wang Kai at Xinjiang Medical University.

Wang Kai introduced that when China experienced the first epidemic, he and his team captured the transmission chain data of more than 100 cities across the country and used mathematical methods to model them, thus mastering some laws of the spread of the new crown virus.

(Research) Mainly aimed at the spread of the virus, asymptomatic infection and other issues. For example, the asymptomatic infection period, we estimate that the average is about 2.2 days, that is to say, 2.2 days, it is asymptomatic, but infectious. Including the transmission speed of the disease, we call it the intergenerational interval. It takes about 5.9 days to pass from a to b.

[Explanation] These research results provide a scientific basis for the prevention and control measures of the new crown epidemic.

At the same time, the data and scientific calculations in the article are frequently cited by other scientific papers at home and abroad.

Wang Kai introduced that the reason for these achievements is related to the research direction of the team.

Because I studied applied mathematics, I came to the medical university about 9 years ago to work, and then I studied some local infectious diseases in Xinjiang for the first 9 years, and also worked in mathematical modeling, and also accumulated some research methods and methods. Research methods.

[Explanation] In Wang Kai's view, many medical questions can be answered by mathematical methods.

I feel that our mathematical models, including mathematical statistical models, are more and more widely used in medicine.

In addition, our Xinjiang Medical University has abundant medical resources. Now there are eight affiliated hospitals, which have produced massive amounts of clinical data, biological data, and various imaging data.

The future should be our team is promising.

[Explanation] From the beginning there was only one postdoctoral fellow with Wang Kai, and now there are 5 PhDs, 1 PhD candidate and 4 Masters in the team.

This team, with an average age of only 32, is in a booming period of scientific research and innovation.

In the future, our team also plans to achieve a higher level of research in the modeling of clinical big data, biological big data, and various data of chronic diseases and infectious diseases.
