With almost one year to go until the opening of the Osaka-Kansai Expo, the construction site of the large roof ring, a wooden structure that is considered the symbol of the venue, was opened to the press on the 8th. Executives from the Exposition Association, which is the main body implementing the project, emphasized that around 80% of the project has been completed and construction is progressing smoothly.

The "Big Roof Ring" at the Osaka/Kansai Expo, which will open on April 13th next year, will have a circumference of approximately 2 kilometers and a maximum height of 20 meters. Once completed, it will be one of the world's largest wooden structures, and will be a key part of the venue's concept. It was built as a symbol to express "diverse yet one."

On the 8th, the construction site for the "Big Roof Ring" was opened to the public, and an executive from the Expo Association explained that about 80% of the project has been completed so far, and that the ring-shaped construction will be completed in late September this year. He emphasized that the construction work is progressing smoothly.

A walkway approximately 8 meters wide will be built on the rooftop, allowing visitors to take a stroll while viewing the entire venue.

Regarding the "Big Roof Ring," some have said that the construction cost of 34.4 billion yen is "too expensive," and other issues have arisen, such as how it will be used after the Expo ends.

Atsushi Takashina, deputy general secretary of the Expo Association, said, ``We want to use this ring to send a message that even though there is conflict and division in the world, we are still connected. We also want to consider ways to use the ring after the exhibition closes.'' I did.
