JR Tokai has announced that the ``Linear Chuo Shinkansen'', which is currently under construction, is expected to be completed in 2031 with some construction work in Yamanashi and Nagano prefectures. JR Tokai announced last week that it would abandon its goal of opening in 2027, and this is the first time it has set a construction period beyond 2027.

According to an announcement from JR Tokai, the construction of Yamanashi Prefecture Station and the new Zakoji Viaduct in Iida City, Nagano Prefecture, on the Linear Chuo Shinkansen, which is currently under construction, is expected to be completed in 2031. .

On the 29th of last month, JR Tokai announced that it would abandon its goal of opening in 2027, as Shizuoka Prefecture did not approve the start of construction and the situation continued to prevent construction from starting.

All of the linear construction that has been underway so far was scheduled to be completed within 2027, but this is the first time that a construction period beyond 2027 has been set.

JR Tokai says construction in Shizuoka will take about 10 years, and even if it were to start construction now, it would not open until 2034. However, Governor Kawakatsu of Shizuoka Prefecture, who has not approved construction, has announced his intention to resign. With this announcement, all eyes are on whether the situation will progress.
