Iran: series of “terrorist attacks” in Sistan-Baluchistan

According to Iranian officials, more than twenty armed men took part in this series of attacks which targeted two bases of the Revolutionary Guards and the navy as well as a police station.

has accused the Sunni separatist group Jaish al-Adl (Army of Justice in Arabic) of having carried out this series of attacks. Last December, the group attacked

a police station

in the same region, killing a dozen deaths among law enforcement officers. Iran had struck two bases of the Jaish al-Adl group with missiles and drones in Pakistani territory, which provoked a response from Islamabad in Iran and caused tensions between the two countries.

Attempted destabilization?

The attack carried out on Wednesday evening April 3 is the largest operation carried out by Jaish al-Adl in this province in recent times.

The group regularly carries out attacks against law enforcement in towns bordering Pakistan; Sistan

-Baluchistan

has a large Sunni community.

Iran accuses Pakistan of not acting forcefully enough against the Jaish al-Adl group which finds refuge in this country. According to Tehran, this group is supported by the American and Israeli intelligence services and carries out these actions to destabilize the country.
