A ceremony was held to commemorate the completion of Toyota Motor Corporation's research and development base with 12 different test courses near its headquarters in Aichi Prefecture. The aim is to increase competitiveness by promoting research and development in collaboration with the head office.

Toyota has invested approximately 300 billion yen to develop a new research and development base on a 650-hectare site in the mountains, about a 30-minute drive from its headquarters in Toyota City, Aichi Prefecture.

All facilities have recently been completed and are now fully operational, and a commemorative ceremony was held on the 2nd with approximately 80 people in attendance, including local officials and Toyota executives.

Chairman Akio Toyoda said, ``I believe that making cars is all about driving on the road, breaking things down, and fixing them over and over again.''Here, I pledge to accelerate the creation of ever-better cars.'' I greeted him.

This base has a total of 12 types of test courses, including a 2-kilometer straight course, a course with a 60-meter elevation difference that simulates European mountain areas, and a course that reproduces slippery surfaces such as snow and ice. It will be maintained and used to evaluate and improve the performance and quality of various types of cars, including gasoline cars and EVs (electric cars).

Approximately 3,000 people are expected to work at this site, and the company aims to take advantage of its proximity to the company's headquarters to promote research and development in conjunction with the company's headquarters, thereby increasing its competitiveness.

Tsuyoshi Watanabe, president of Lexus International, who attended the ceremony, said, ``We want to thoroughly train the basics of car manufacturing here and develop the value that cars will provide in the future in order to evolve into mobility.'' We were talking.
