Aeon Hokkaido announced that it will acquire all nine stores in Hokkaido operated by supermarket chain Seiyu this October. From October onwards, the store will operate as an AEON-affiliated store, meaning there will be no Seiyu stores in Hokkaido.

According to the announcement, Aeon Hokkaido decided at a board meeting held on the 2nd to acquire all nine stores in Sapporo city operated by Seiyu in October, and signed a contract with Seiyu on the 2nd. .



The acquisition price was 17 billion yen, and Aeon Hokkaido said, ``Aeon Hokkaido is facing issues such as a shortage of workers due to population decline and aging, and a shrinking market size. The objective was to acquire stores located in prime locations."



Seiyu has approximately 320 stores nationwide, and since 2021, it has been affiliated with an American investment fund and has been promoting business reforms to improve profits.



All nine stores in Sapporo City are scheduled to operate as AEON-affiliated stores from October onwards, and as a result, there will be no Seiyu stores in Hokkaido. The company plans to continue hiring employees.
