China News Service, Shanghai, April 1 (Reporter Fan Yubin) A reporter searched major aviation ticketing platforms on the 1st and found that currently, relevant flight and ticketing information from Shanghai to and from Hangzhou cannot be found.

On February 23, China Eastern Airlines will operate flights between Hangzhou Xiaoshan Airport and Shanghai Pudong Airport. The outbound flight MU5440 is scheduled to take off from Hangzhou Xiaoshan Airport at 6:15 and arrive at Shanghai Pudong Airport at 7:20; the return flight MU5439 is scheduled to take off at 23:00 It took off from Shanghai Pudong Airport at 45 minutes and arrived at Hangzhou Xiaoshan Airport at 1:15 the next day.

This means that after more than 20 years, civil aviation flights between Shanghai and Hangzhou have restarted, and people can fly to and from Shanghai and Hangzhou.

Mr. Chen returned to Hangzhou from Xining a few days ago, so he chose to go from Xining to Shanghai first and then transfer to Hangzhou. He said, "This transfer method is recommended on the ticket purchasing software. It is relatively cheap and feels quite convenient."

However, the Shanghai-Hangzhou flights were "grounded" just over a month after they were launched. According to China Eastern Airlines, the operating results did not meet expectations. After the summer and autumn flight plan was implemented on March 31, flights between Hangzhou and Shanghai will no longer be operated.

In fact, the Shanghai-Hangzhou civil aviation route has a long history. On January 1, 1957, an innovative 106-propeller aircraft taking off from Shanghai arrived at Hangzhou Jianqiao Airport. This was the first civil aviation passenger aircraft to land in Hangzhou in history. In the following decades, Shanghai-Hangzhou flights continued to operate, and airplanes were the shortest mode of transportation at that time.

After entering the 21st century, taking trains and buses to and from Shanghai and Hangzhou has become the preferred mode of travel for people. As a result, Shanghai-Hangzhou flights ceased operations.

People from Shanghai and Hangzhou travel frequently. The resumption of Shanghai-Hangzhou flights in February this year was mainly due to the demand of passengers transferring to Shanghai Pudong Airport. Since Shanghai Pudong Airport has many international routes, many people need to transfer here.

It is understood that at present, a large number of high-speed trains travel between Shanghai and Hangzhou every day. The fastest trip from Hangzhou to Shanghai by high-speed rail is only 46 minutes. There are also several expressways between Shanghai and Hangzhou. In the future, the planned Shanghai-Chahang high-speed railway will directly connect to the Shanghai Oriental Comprehensive Transportation Hub. (over)
