In response to the ``2024 problem'' in logistics, the maximum speed for large trucks on expressways will be raised to 90 km/h from April 1st.

In the logistics industry, there are concerns that the overtime work regulations for truck drivers will be tightened from the 1st, leading to worsening labor shortages and a decline in transportation volumes.

In order to address this "2024 problem," the National Police Agency held a meeting of experts in July last year, and as a result of considering raising the maximum speed of large trucks on expressways, the performance of safety devices such as collision damage mitigation brakes has improved. However, given that speeds are becoming more and more popular, it was concluded that ``raising the speed to 90 km/h will not have a major impact on traffic safety.''

In response to this, the National Police Agency amended the Road Traffic Law Enforcement Order to increase the maximum speed on expressways from 80km/h to 90km/h for trucks with a gross weight of 8 tons or more, and it went into effect on the 1st. .

On the other hand, due to the structural characteristics of the vehicles and the occurrence of accidents, the increase in the number of large trailers has been postponed, and the maximum speed remains at 80 km/h.

The National Police Agency says, ``We would like to ask everyone to drive safely and abide by traffic rules, especially on expressways, as there is a risk of serious accidents.''
