In France, nearly six out of ten French people have at least one subscription to a streaming platform. In contrast, prices on the main platforms increased by 26% last year. Enough to push consumers to subscribe elsewhere.

Netflix, Disney+, Amazon Prime, Apple TV, Deezer, Spotify… Nearly 6 out of 10 French people have at least one subscription to one of these streaming platforms. And it is an item of expenditure that is increasing. In the latest episode, Spotify announced an upcoming increase in its prices in France as a result of a new tax on the turnover of music streaming platforms. Overall, prices on the main platforms increased by 26% last year.

Transpose the carpooling model

Plus one euro at Deezer, plus one or two euros depending on subscriptions at Spotify, plus three euros at Disney+ in 2023. Inflation has also affected subscriptions to streaming platforms. The prize goes to Netflix where the cheapest subscription without advertising went from 8.99 euros to 13.49 euros in a few months, an increase of 50%. In this context, co-subscription platforms such as Diivii, Sharesub, Sharit or the European leader Spliiit are gaining users.

"We are a platform for connecting individuals and we have transposed the carpooling model, well known in France and democratized by Blablacar, onto all multi-account and multi-user digital subscriptions. The average cost of a subscription on Spliiit costs around 4 euros per month, much cheaper than any SVOD subscription,” explains Guillaume Lochard, co-founder of the platform. Moreover, Spliiit is about to celebrate its million users, at a time when Netflix is ​​considering a further increase in the price of its subscriptions.
