This Wednesday, March 27, the French luxury house Louis Vuitton presents the trunks which will be used to store the medals and the torch of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The public will be able to see them during the flame route and at the Parc des Champions, next door. of the Eiffel Tower.

The Louis Vuitton brand, owned by LVMH, partner of the Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games, presents on Wednesday its trunks dedicated to the medals and the torch, which will be visible in particular during the flame route and at the Champions Park, next to the Eiffel Tower. Australian Open, Rugby World Cup, Monaco Formula 1 Grand Prix, Golden Ball, Larry O'Brien NBA trophy... the Louis Vuitton brand is not its first tailor-made trunk designed for trophies.

The two trunks will be “associated with the major events and highlights of Paris 2024, such as during the torch journey in France for the torch trunk and at the Champions Park for the medal trunk,” LVMH told AFP. The trunk intended for the medals, with its famous monogrammed brown canvas, opens in three leaves. Inside there are 62 poplar drawers covered in black leather, each of which can accommodate between 8 and 9 medals.

A blue box to present the medals

"In Rio, we had a box made of Amazonian wood that slid with the medal inside. In Tokyo, a small hollow cylinder with felt and the medal was inside, but those were the individual presentations", fencer Enzo Lefort, double Olympic medalist and Louis Vuitton muse, told a few journalists, visiting the Asnières workshops (Hauts-de-Seine) where the trunks were made.

The individual medals for the 2024 Olympic Games will be presented in a blue case, typical of the jeweler Chaumet (which made the medals and belongs to LVMH), but without the brand inscription. As for the Olympic flame, Louis Vuitton created a trunk smaller than that of the medals.

“We participate in the event. It’s rewarding,” says Florian, a 36-year-old craftsman we met in the Louis Vuitton workshop in Asnières. “It’s a source of pride, it only happens once in a lifetime,” adds her colleague Anouk, 28 years old. LVMH's flagship brand has exceeded 20 billion euros in turnover in 2022.
