Railway companies are increasingly introducing a new system that uses the chat function of communication apps and AI image recognition technology to interact with people who have lost items in station premises or on trains, and to efficiently search for them. .

This system, developed by a startup company in Tokyo, will be introduced by Keikyu Corporation starting next month.

If you use the chat function of a communication app to enter the details of your lost item, as well as the date, time, and location, you can check the information registered on the database to see if it has been reported.

Additionally, if you search online and send an image of a lost item such as a bag or wallet, the AI will automatically narrow down the list of items that have been reported with similar characteristics.

The railway company receives up to 200,000 inquiries about lost items each year, and we hope that this will significantly reduce the burden of responding to inquiries over the phone.

Shuo Yoshida, Chief Manager of the Transportation Sales Department at Keikyu Railway Headquarters, says, ``Work time can be significantly reduced, which will lead to improvements in other services.''

This system has been introduced so far at JR Kyushu, Keio Electric Railway, etc., and is said to have led to a reduction in response times.
