Orders increased by over 1600%! Merchants rely on "grabbing" to purchase goods, and it is the "biggest seller" of fruits!

Now, it’s time to taste blueberries. This year, some new domestic blueberry varieties have appeared on the market, which are loved by consumers. Although they are expensive, they are still selling well.

Walking into a supermarket in Shenzhen, Guangdong, many consumers are buying blueberries. The person in charge of the supermarket said that currently all the blueberries in their store can be sold out on the same day, and there are often out-of-stocks at night.

Wang Weimin, manager of a fresh food supermarket in Shenzhen, Guangdong: Currently, blueberries are the number one selling variety of fruit, and overall sales this year have more than doubled compared to last year.

With the rise of short video check-in, live streaming, online group buying and other models, the number of consumers purchasing blueberries through e-commerce platforms has also experienced explosive growth. Data from an e-commerce platform shows that since the Spring Festival this year (February 18 to March 22), orders for domestic blueberries have increased by 1,637.65% year-on-year.

Zhang Yanjiao, the person in charge of a blueberry packaging workshop in Chengjiang City, Yunnan Province: Consumers order online, and we deliver the goods to them. There are more than 1,000 orders a day, and sometimes more than 2,000 orders.

Yunnan is one of the main producing areas for growing blueberries. Recently, orders have been pouring in from all over the country. Suppliers here often have to deliver goods until two or three o'clock at night. Among them, new varieties of floral blueberries are the most popular.

Li Yaoyang, a blueberry supplier in Chengjiang City, Yunnan Province: Two new varieties were planted in Yunnan this year. They are both crisp, sweet and floral in taste. They sell very well. We can now deliver six to seven tons of blueberries every day.

Yunnan: The supply of blueberries exceeds the demand, and buyers from all over the country are "rushing" on the spot.

The reporter visited the blueberry producing areas in Yunnan and found that the blueberry fruits matured earlier this year. Buyers from all over the country rushed to place orders, and there was even a phenomenon of "rushing for goods".

Blueberry buyer Wang Jie has been in Chengjiang, Yunnan for almost a month. Sales of domestic blueberries are booming this year, and dealers are asking for goods in large quantities. Wang Jie has also begun to look for goods at various blueberry bases.

Blueberry buyer Wang Jie: I drive hundreds of kilometers every day to the base and packaging workshop to find and order goods. I can still order seven or eight tons a day, but it doesn't meet expectations. Everyone is grabbing it, and the demand is 13 to 14 tons a day.

Wang Jie told reporters that the sales volume of blueberries is increasing every year. The current planting volume in the production area is far from keeping up with the market demand. In addition, the Chengjiang production area has not yet reached the peak fruit period, which has triggered buyers from all over the country to come here to rush for goods. .

Hu Huanyuan, a local blueberry supplier in Chengjiang, Yunnan, has also felt the enthusiasm of blueberry buyers this year. Every day, he has to answer countless consultation calls and receive more than a dozen customers on site.

Data from an agricultural product trading platform shows that since the Spring Festival, the purchase popularity of blueberries on their platform has increased more than 11 times.

Deng Xu, vice president of an agricultural product trading platform in Beijing: This year’s blueberries are characterized by high purchase prices and high purchase enthusiasm. For some of this year’s new products, the price in the place of production can reach as high as 150 yuan per kilogram. As blueberries from Liaoning, Jiangsu, Shandong and other places come on the market in April, the price of blueberries will fall.

Yunnan: Blueberries have entered the picking season and farmers’ incomes have increased significantly

At present, blueberry planting bases in many places in Yunnan have entered the picking period. As the fruits are shipped to all parts of the country, growers are beginning to taste the benefits, and many local villagers are also earning extra income by picking blueberries.

CCTV reporter Song Hua: Now is the early stage of the domestic blueberry market. In the blueberry base where I am located, 15 workers are picking blueberries. They have to be busy from 7:30 in the morning to 6:00 in the evening.

In July last year, Li Zhixiong renovated this blueberry garden, updated varieties and built greenhouses. At the beginning of this year, the blueberry trees at the base were full of fruits. Today is the fourth blueberry harvest at their base.

Li Zhixiong, a blueberry grower in Chengjiang City, Yunnan Province: The total investment in 74 acres is about 7.6 million yuan. This year, the profit per tree is expected to be 250 yuan, which may return to about 7 million yuan, and he will start making money in the second year.

Li Zhixiong did some calculations for reporters. One acre of land can plant 450 to 480 blueberry trees. The yield of a single plant in the first year is about 2.5 kilograms. Calculated at 100 yuan per kilogram, one acre of land can earn almost 100,000 yuan.

Blueberry cultivation is also a way for local villagers to increase their income through "part-time work". Dong Xiaoya’s blueberry garden is about 65 acres. After entering the blueberry picking period, 50 workers are needed every day to pick and pack blueberries.

Dong Xiaoya, a blueberry grower in Chengjiang City, Yunnan Province: Most people from the surrounding 3 to 4 villages work at our base. Our workers earn between 80,000 and 90,000 yuan every year.

Data shows that more than 27 provinces and cities in my country have carried out commercial blueberry cultivation. As of 2023, my country's blueberry planting area has reached nearly 1 million acres, with a production of 347,200 tons, of which 250,000 tons of fresh fruit have been put on the market, ranking second in the world. .
