China News Service, March 25. The 2024 Annual Meeting of the China Development Forum will be held on March 24-25, 2024. The "Carbon Neutrality and Global Climate Governance Symposium" was held on the afternoon of March 24. Liu Zhenmin, China's special envoy for climate change affairs, said in his speech in the "Keynote Speech II" session: Practical action is the key to global climate governance.

Liu Zhenmin said that my country has been implementing a national strategy to actively respond to climate change. In 2022, my country's carbon emission intensity will drop by more than 51% compared with 2005; as of the end of December 2023, my country's total installed renewable energy power generation capacity accounts for nearly 40% of the world; my country's wind power , photovoltaic products are exported to more than 200 countries and regions around the world; we have contributed 25% of the world’s new green area; we have also established the world’s largest carbon market covering greenhouse gas emissions; we have issued the National Climate Change Adaptation Strategy 2035 " and "Methane Emission Control Action Plan"; we mobilize people across the country to participate in the country's green and low-carbon development and advocate the formation of a new way of green and low-carbon life. At the same time, we insist on providing assistance to other developing countries to the best of our ability through the green "Belt and Road" and the South-South cooperation platform to address climate change.

Liu Zhenmin pointed out that currently, from a global perspective, all parties have made commitments to control global temperature rise within the target range of the Paris Agreement, but the most urgent thing is implementation. The goals and visions of all parties should be realistic, feasible, and continuous, and fully consider the means of implementation and the different starting points and capacity levels of developing countries. All parties should work hard to implement the obligations and commitments under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Paris Agreement, and make the vision a reality through practical actions.
