In response to the Fair Trade Commission's recommendation that Nissan Motor Co. violate the Subcontract Act, the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association has decided to conduct an emergency inspection of the industry's legal compliance.

On March 7, Nissan Motor received a recommendation from the Japan Fair Trade Commission to prevent a recurrence on the grounds that it violated the Subcontract Act by unilaterally lowering the prices it paid to 36 subcontractor manufacturers.

Furthermore, last week, the Japan Fair Trade Commission sent a written request to the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association to promote appropriate trade practices throughout the industry.

In response to this, the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association has decided to conduct an urgent voluntary inspection of each company's legal compliance status.

At a press conference on the 22nd, Chairman Masanori Katayama stated, ``Price discussions must be carried out clearly and firmly, and using preferential status is the worst problem,'' and said that he is trying to prevent a recurrence. We plan to thoroughly implement these efforts.

Meanwhile, in January this year, Nissan Motor will pay the parts manufacturer the full amount of the reduced amount, and will compile measures to prevent recurrence and submit them to the Fair Trade Commission.
