  A seminar on urban renewal in the new era, jointly organized by the Institute of Railway Engineering and Tsinghua University Architectural Design and Research Institute, was held recently.   Combining Beijing's urban renewal regulations and the projects completed by the Fifth Railway Institute in recent years, Zhu Zongliang divided the current urban renewal work into multiple aspects.

  First, infrastructure needs to make up for shortcomings and improve quality.

Such as improving the city's intelligent management level, updating and constructing urban comprehensive pipe corridors, etc.

  Second, public space transformation.

  Fourth, industrial updates.

Zhu Zongliang said that industrial renewal includes two parts: on the one hand, it is to upgrade the original inefficient industries and cultivate some emerging industries; on the other hand, it is the transformation of functions. For example, many cultural and creative parks have been built across the country, but most cities cannot do anything about it. After all is digested, urban renewal should open up ideas and turn the cultural and creative park into a sports venue for parent-child activities, fitness and leisure.   Fifth, commercial building updates.

Many local governments pay too much attention to commercial buildings in urban planning, and the overproduction of commercial buildings in some cities is serious. The renewal work must have strong resource organization capabilities, business planning capabilities, and sustainable operation capabilities.

  Sixth, urban rail transit updates.

Zhu Zongliang believes that the current urban rail transit should focus more on built-up areas, consider exploring the renewal value of surrounding cities, and conduct comprehensive development of commercial land around stations based on the TOD (public transportation-oriented development model) concept.

In addition, attention should also be paid to the green transformation and capacity expansion of the station.
