China News Service, Beijing, March 16 (Zhao Bin) The finals of the third Climate Solutions Global Innovation Competition (Greater China) were held at Tsinghua University on the 15th. Three teams stood out and will participate in the global finals.

"Sustainable development cannot be achieved overnight and requires continuous investment and collaboration from all parties." Zhu Xufeng, executive dean of the Global Sustainable Development Institute and dean of the School of Public Administration at Tsinghua University, said that the innovative designs of participating students may provide solutions to climate problems for the world .

  A total of 10 student teams advanced to the finals.

In the end, the "Corn Kernel" team, the "Clothes Continue a New Chapter" team and the "Building Carbon Sink" team won the "Winner Award" with their outstanding performance and will represent the Greater China Division in the global finals. The team and the "Zhiling Technology" team won the "Pernod Ricard Special Award".

  Zhou Jinnuo from Shandong University said that his "Stained Shell Search" team proposed to use energy-saving and environmentally friendly methods to convert abandoned seaside shells into high-performance adsorbents that can be used to purify sewage to increase ocean carbon sinks and build a sustainable Marine ecological environment.

  Deng Ziyue from Tsinghua University told reporters that his "Corn Kernel" team focuses on carbon emission reduction and carbon trading in agricultural production, and explores the upgrading of organic agriculture from raw materials to planting methods.

  Wang Jue, Vice President of Public Relations and Sustainable Development of Pernod Ricard China, said that he firmly believes that young talents are a huge force in promoting sustainable development, and will empower the growth of young people and promote sustainable development by providing students with innovative practical resources and platforms.

  The Global Innovation Competition for Climate Solutions is initiated by the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network, and the Greater China competition is co-organized by the Tsinghua University Institute for Global Sustainability and the Chinese University of Hong Kong.

  This competition focuses on areas related to SDG13 climate action such as "responsible production and consumption", "natural resource protection", "sustainable agriculture" and "dual carbon and renewable energy", and encourages young students to use multi-disciplinary methods to explore real-life problems Solutions that are both innovative and feasible.
