On March 12, CNOOC announced that Asia's first deepwater jacket "Haiji No. 2" independently designed and built by China was completed at the deepwater equipment manufacturing base in Zhuhai, Guangdong, setting new standards in structural height, weight, operating water depth, and construction. It marks that China's independent design and construction capabilities for deepwater ultra-large jacket platforms have reached world-class levels, and is of great significance to promoting China's deepwater oil and gas energy development and accelerating high-level self-reliance in energy science and technology.

The fixed jacket platform is the most widely used offshore oil and gas development equipment in the world. It mainly consists of three parts: jacket, leg and upper module.

The jacket is equivalent to the "foundation" and is used to support the huge body and huge tonnage of offshore oil and gas platforms.

The average water depth in the operating sea area of "Haiji No. 2" is about 324 meters. The total height of the jacket is 338.5 meters, which exceeds the height of the main building of Beijing International World Trade Center Phase III. The total weight reaches 37,000 tons. The amount of steel used is close to that of the "Bird's Nest" National Stadium, reaching the level of domestic construction sites, The limits of the ability to transport, install equipment and ships.

It is understood that "Haiji No. 2" is planned to be installed offshore in the near future. After completion, it will serve in the secondary development project of Liuhua 11-1/4-1 oil field, China's first deepwater oil field in the Pearl River Mouth Basin, and promote the 100-million-ton deepwater Old oil fields are glowing with new vitality, injecting new energy impetus into the economic and social development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
