Starting signal !

Since 6 a.m. this morning, you can book your train tickets for your summer vacation.

To get the best prices on trains that will fill up quickly, you will have to be reactive.

Europe 1 takes stock.

It's an event that millions of French people mark on their calendar: the day SNCF summer tickets go on sale.

Since 6 a.m. this morning, the SNCF has opened its ticket office for the period from July 6 to September 11 inclusive for the TGV Inoui and Intercités and until December 14 for the TGV Ouigo.

400,000 additional places

In 2023, 30 million tickets were sold for last July and August, taking into account European destinations.

This year, SNCF will offer 400,000 additional places.

“We had to make lace,” we explain internally.

“There are no more TGVs available but duplex, double-decker and double trainsets have been favored on the most popular connections.”

Result: a few hundred seats gained per journey, mainly towards Bordeaux and Marseille.

A word of advice, don’t wait!

The effect of the Olympic Games still remains very uncertain but the cities which will host events will inevitably be in high demand.

There is no miracle recipe for getting a ticket at a good price: you won't have to hang around, recalls Bruno Gazeau, president of the National Federation of Transport User Associations (FNAUT).

“Prices increase as the trains fill up and we get closer to departure. On the most popular routes, prices can increase by 20, 30 or 50%,” he says.

A mechanism that travelers have understood well since the French are increasingly anticipating their purchases.

SNCF Connect expects more than a million sales this Wednesday without forgetting competing platforms like Trainline, Kombo, Tictactrip or Omio.
