  In 2023, China's automobile production and sales will reach a new high, and new energy vehicles will grow rapidly.

Data show that China implemented a total of 72 new energy vehicle recalls last year, involving 1.603 million vehicles, accounting for 23.8% of the total number of recalls throughout the year.

The number of new energy vehicle recalls increased by 32.3% year-on-year, reaching a record high.

Six remote upgrade (OTA) recalls were implemented, involving 1.173 million vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 32.2%. OTA has gradually become an important way to implement automobile recalls.

  In terms of consumer product recalls, in 2023, the number of recalls affected by investigations by market regulatory authorities was 699, involving 6.128 million products, accounting for 90.7% and 58.8% of the total number of recalls and the total number of recalls respectively. Defect investigations are still driving consumer product companies to implement recalls main way.

As of the end of last year, China had implemented a total of 4,885 consumer product recalls, involving 101 million products.

  The State Administration for Market Regulation revealed that in 2024, it will focus on four aspects: strengthening product safety recall supervision, optimizing the product safety recall supervision system, in-depth advancement of the product quality and safety sandbox supervision system, and improving technical support capabilities for defective product recalls.
