JR East's ``off-peak commuter pass,'' which offers discounts on commuter fares for those who commute by train to avoid the morning rush hour, has been sluggish in the number of purchasers, and the company has decided to expand the discount rate.

``Off-peak commuter passes'' were launched by JR East in March last year, and commuter passes are cheaper for people who commute to work to avoid the morning rush hours set by each station.

It's been almost a year since it went on sale, but only about 200,000 people have purchased this commuter pass in the target area, which is only about half of the goal.

Additionally, most of the people who purchased the tickets were riding outside of rush hours, meaning that the effect of easing congestion was not as much as expected.

For this reason, starting from October this year, the company has decided to expand the discount rate compared to regular commuter passes from the current 10% to 15%.

Reasons for the lack of progress in switching include a lack of awareness and the fact that companies often cover the cost of commuting, making it difficult for users to see the benefits, so we are also promoting this to companies.
