As the highest-level professional international expo in the gardening and horticulture industry, the Expo is known as the "Olympics" of the world's flower and horticulture fields, with a history of more than 60 years.

Chengdu is the second city in southwest China to host the World Horticultural Exposition after the 1999 Kunming World Horticultural Exposition.

The Chengdu Horticultural Expo, which will open in April this year, will feature 112 exhibition gardens. The total number of exhibition gardens, the number of overseas exhibition gardens, and the number of association and corporate exhibition gardens have all set a record for the previous Class B Horticultural Expo.

At present, the six core venues of the Chengdu Expo's main venue, Sanhua Building, Comprehensive Service Pavilion, Chengdu International Friendship Pavilion, Botanical Pavilion, Tianfu Habitat Pavilion and the main exhibition hall, have been fully completed.

Entering the main venue of the Chengdu Expo Garden Fair, you will see the magnificent Sanhua Building, which replicates the style of the Sui and Tang Dynasties.

According to Yan Pengchao, the designer of the Sanhua Building and the executive chief architect of the Huaxia Architectural Design Institute of China Northwest Architectural Design Institute, the design of this antique building was inspired by the poet Li Bai's poem "The sun shines on the head of Jincheng, and the Sanhua Building shines brightly."

In the past, when Li Bai visited Chengdu and climbed the Sanhua Tower in his youth, he left behind this elegant poem "Deng Jincheng Sanhua Tower". "This traditional Chinese pavilion 'walked out' from Li Bai's poems embodies the spirit of the prosperous Tang Dynasty." The style is unique and elegant." Yan Pengchao said.

As one of the landmark buildings of the Chengdu Expo, the Sanhua Building embodies the architectural techniques of the Tang Dynasty with its large brackets and far-reaching eaves. Its color combination of blue tiles and vermilion exterior walls makes it look simple, heavy, yet romantic.

There is a climbing corridor on each side of the main building of Sanhua Building that goes up the mountain. At the end of it is a small and exquisite square pavilion for visitors to stand and enjoy the scenery.

After the park opens, the Sanhua Building will be open to tourists as a sightseeing place. After climbing the building, visitors can see the sky and overlook the panoramic view of the Chengdu World Horticultural Exhibition, feeling Li Bai's feeling of climbing high and looking far.

Among the main venues of the Chengdu Expo, the Chengdu Garden has the largest construction area.

Chengdu Garden embodies the history and cultural heritage of Chengdu. For example, the design of the main entrance of Chengdu Garden is inspired by Du Fu’s Thatched Cottage, the design of the red wall in the garden is taken from Wuhou Temple, and the Mianzhu planted is reminiscent of the forest in Bazi rural area in western Sichuan... "A major feature of the Chengdu Garden is the looming and winding paths. Visitors can experience the beauty of Sichuan-style gardens in the winding and circuitous way." Pan Yonglin, the on-site person in charge of the Chengdu Garden of the Construction Management Department of the Chengdu Expo Executive Committee, said that after the park opened, , the Chengdu Garden will display more than 200 plant varieties, including ginkgo, cynocarpus, davidia, hibiscus, etc., which are very characteristic of Chengdu.

Beijing Garden and Chengdu Garden are only separated by a stone's throw.

Compared with the winding paths and secluded style of the Chengdu Garden, the Beijing Garden appears to be open and wide.

Xia Chenggang, chief designer of the Beijing Garden and director of the Chinese Garden Culture Research and Practice Institute of the Beijing Garden and Ancient Architecture Design Institute, said in an interview that the Beijing Garden is modeled on the axis layout of the royal garden and is upright and grand. The exhibition garden is characterized by pavilions, pavilions, Mountains, rocks, flowers and trees are used as decorations to create eight major scenic spots, including "Getting Better", "True Meaning of Lakes and Mountains", "Bringing Together Spring" and "Jingyuan Hidden Truth".

Xia Chenggang said that gardening design should not only focus on integrating with mountain-shaped water systems, pavilions and pavilions, but also integrate into the cultural connotation of the city.

A 60-meter-long red flower stream landscape with a height difference of 5 to 6 meters is set up in the northeastern part of the Beijing Garden, named "Jianghua Stream". "'Jianghua Stream' reflects the dynamics of the Jiangxi River in Chengdu through the color gradient changes of static flowers. Beauty and natural beauty, thus deepening the deep friendship and emotional connection between Beijing and Chengdu in the form of 'horticulture + culture'." (End)
