A smoothie manufacturer has recalled certain bottles of the products “Solevita Smoothie Red Genius” and “KINGSWAY Banana-Grape-Cranberry-Pomegranate-Acai”.

These were offered at Lidl and Netto.

Some of these smoothies contain aronia juice, which is contaminated with patulin.

“Patulin is a substance (mycotoxin) produced by mold that is harmful to health and can lead to nausea, vomiting and indigestion,” says the recalls now published on the official portalfoodwarning.de.

In the case of the drink “Solevita Smoothie Red Genius”, the 250 milliliter bottles with the best-before dates of March 13th and 14th are being recalled by Lidl – throughout Germany.

The smoothie “KINGSWAY banana-grape-cranberry-pomegranate-acai and other fruits” was on the shelves at the Netto discounter.

The recall applies to bottles with a best-before date of March 12th.

They were offered in Bavaria, North Rhine-Westphalia and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.

Customers should definitely pay attention to the Gropper dairy recall and under no circumstances should they consume the smoothie, it said.

The products can also be returned to Lidl and Netto branches without a receipt.

Patulin also in other smoothies

On Wednesday, the food company Dr.

Oetker Smoothies in a bowl recalled as a precautionary measure due to possible mold toxins.

The Bielefeld-based company said the reason was residues of the substance patulin formed by mold, which could be contained in the product “Smoothie Bowl with strawberry, banana, aronia and linseed”.

Goods with an expiry date of April 23, 2024 are affected.

The product was brought onto the market in Germany, Austria and Finland from January.
