Medog County is located in the southeastern part of the Tibet Autonomous Region, on the middle and lower reaches of the Yarlung Zangbo River. It is one of the most remote areas in China.

In October 2013, the Zhamu Highway (Zhamu Town, Bomi County to Medog) was opened to traffic after decades of repeated destruction and construction. Medog finally got rid of its history of being blocked by roads.

Luo Buyangzong said that within ten years of its opening to traffic, all 45 administrative villages in Medog County had access to roads.

In the past ten years, the Zhamo Highway has been fully hardened since it was opened to traffic. The "Four Good" rural roads have been built at the doorstep, and the construction of the national highway G219 is accelerating.

At the same time, safe drinking water has been fully covered, and Medog is also connected to the large power grid. The 110-kilovolt power transmission and transformation project under construction is expected to be completed in the first half of this year. Now every household has access to water, electricity, roads, postal services, and the Internet.

She introduced that the per capita disposable income of rural residents in Tibet was 5,698 yuan ten years ago and will reach 19,924 yuan in 2023.

Rob Yangzong said that Medog's tourism, tea, forest economy and other industries are now booming. Although Medog has a population of only more than 14,800, it received 425,600 tourists last year alone.

The tea industry has begun to take shape, with 19,000 acres of alpine organic tea gardens built. 500,000 kilograms of green tea will be picked in 2023. People's income will increase by more than 5 million yuan. Tea has become the "golden leaf" for getting rich.

Today, the people of Medog have stable access to food, clothing, housing, education, and medical care, and the compulsory education penetration rate reaches 100%.
