Alexey Plotnikov, executive secretary of AVVR, stated this to RIA Novosti.

“We decided to once again appeal to the government and the State Duma with a request... to establish import duties for wine, sparkling wine, and fortified wine from NATO countries at 200%,” he said.

At the same time, Plotnikov added that the association also asked the Russian authorities to cancel the preferential treatment for the import of various types of wine from Georgia.

In October 2023, Fort executive director Alexander Lipilin said that inexpensive wine from Italy, Spain and France would soon disappear from Russia.
