Zhang Qing, director of the Development Planning Department of the Civil Aviation Administration of China, said in Beijing on the 29th that in 2024, major indicators such as total transportation turnover, passenger transportation volume, cargo and mail transportation volume of the entire civil aviation industry are expected to exceed pre-epidemic levels as a whole.

In January, the industry completed a total transportation turnover of 11.61 billion ton-kilometers, a year-on-year increase of 57.1%, an increase of 9.3% compared with the same period in 2019; completed passenger transport volume of 57.318 million passengers, a year-on-year increase of 44.1%, an increase of 7.3% compared with the same period in 2019, civil aviation passenger transport The degree of recovery has reached a monthly high since the epidemic; the cargo and mail transportation volume completed was 753,000 tons, a year-on-year increase of 53.9%, and a year-on-year increase of 12.2% over the same period in 2019. The scale of civil aviation cargo has exceeded the pre-epidemic level for six consecutive months.

  She introduced that since the Spring Festival this year (as of February 27, the 18th day of the first lunar month), civil aviation has transported a total of 70.2 million passengers, with an average of 2.13 million passengers per day, an increase of 56.3% over the same period of the Spring Festival in 2023, and an increase of 16.6% over 2019; the cumulative number 568,000 flights are guaranteed, with an average of 17,222 flights per day, an increase of 29.8% over the same period during the Spring Festival in 2023 and an increase of 3.7% over 2019.

  Looking forward to the whole year, Zhang Qing said that as the vitality of the civil aviation market entities gradually recovers and the production and operation order returns to normal, China's civil aviation will enter a new cycle of sustained, rapid and healthy development.

In 2024, major indicators such as the total transportation turnover, passenger transportation volume, and cargo and mail transportation volume of the entire civil aviation industry are expected to exceed pre-epidemic levels as a whole. The year-on-year growth rate of passengers is expected to reach double digits, and the year-on-year growth rate of cargo and mail is expected to be slightly higher.
