The Munich Ifo Institute expects inflation in Germany to fall further in the coming months.

According to the survey, fewer companies in this country want to raise their prices - the price expectations determined by the Ifo fell to 15.0 points in February, after 18.8 points in January.

They fell primarily in the sectors that are important for private consumption.

According to the Ifo survey, fewer service providers in particular are planning to increase their prices.

Price plans fell particularly sharply in accommodation as well as in art, entertainment and culture.

But fewer companies in the catering industry also want to raise their prices.

In retail, however, price expectations rose slightly - companies in the food and beverage retail sector in particular want to increase their prices.

In the rest of the retail sector, however, the price plans fell slightly.

Falling prices in construction

The majority of companies in the construction industry also want to reduce their prices, as the Ifo found.

In the manufacturing sector, only a small majority of companies surveyed want to raise their prices.

The points in the price expectations collected by Ifo indicate what percentage of companies want to increase their prices on balance.

The institute does not ask about the amount of the planned price change.
