Ben Gvir wants to ban Palestinians from the West Bank from the Mosque Esplanade for Ramadan
The far-right Israeli minister, Itamar Ben Gvir, wants to ban Palestinians from the West Bank from accessing the Mosque Esplanade during the month of Ramadan. And the Israeli government formally opposes any solution imposed for the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, without however hermetically closing the idea of a Palestinian state.

This is a resolution unanimously adopted by the Israeli government during its weekly meeting this Sunday morning. Israel will continue to oppose unilateral recognition of a Palestinian state. It would reward terrorism, especially after the events of October 7. A permanent agreement with the Palestinians, the resolution states, must be the result of direct negotiations between the parties, without preconditions.

Later in the afternoon, a ministerial commission headed by Benyamin Netanyahu will consider a proposal from the Minister of National Security. Itamar Ben Gvir wants to prohibit access to al-Aqsa and the Mosque Esplanade to Palestinians from the West Bank during the month of Ramadan which is due to begin around March 10.
And, still according to this proposal, only Israeli Arabs aged over 70 will be able to go to the third holiest site of Islam: there is no question of allowing a Hamas victory celebration, proclaimed Itamar Ben Gvir. There is strong opposition from the police and the Shin Bet, Israeli internal security, which proposes a more moderate approach.
