  • Flat Protests offers more controls and pressure on the EU, but does not convince farmers: "We still cannot stop fighting"

The Ministry of the Interior has raised to 44, one more than the previous day, the number of detainees in the

protests in the agricultural sector

with data accumulated from February 6 until this Friday at 1:00 p.m., after eleven days of protests and mobilizations with roadblocks and tractor units.

Furthermore, the Interior has reported that the number of Protestants

identified for possible sanction has increased to 8,886 people,

79 more than the previous day, and that the number of administrative complaints has remained at 3,189 this eleventh day, in application of both the law organic citizen safety and road safety.

Precisely this Thursday, the Minister of

Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Luis Planas,

proposed 18 measures to stop the crisis in the agricultural sector and admitted that, in addition to giving his opinion at the meeting with the autonomous communities next Monday, February 19 , will "accept and listen" to the suggestions they make regarding what the Government is going to defend on February 26, in Brussels.

Regarding the meeting of the

Council of Agriculture Ministers of the European Union

on February 26, Planas pointed out that "it is a great opportunity" and that he knows that "the

European Commission (EC)

is working internally on the proposals and contributions of Spain".

The farmers' protests continued this Friday, collapsing and blocking roads and the centers of some cities in

Spain.

Cuts to highways and conventional roads in up to five provinces of Castilla y León have given continuity this Friday to the series of protests called mostly by groups of farmers and ranchers who do not belong to professional agricultural organizations and which were not officially communicated.

Approach in Madrid

Sabrina García,

the

spokesperson for Ciudadanos CS Comunidad de Madrid,

wanted to highlight that "at Ciudadanos Comunidad de Madrid we begin a new stage of

closeness and collaboration with our farmers and ranchers,

making ourselves available to listen to their concerns and work together in the construction of a prosperous future for our field.

The party in Madrid has explained that

it "fully" supports the sector's demands

that refer to compliance with the Food Chain Law, the democratization of the agricultural sector, the defense of environmental standards and the streamlining of bureaucratic procedures.

García has stressed that "Ciudadanos is committed, in this new stage, to working tirelessly on the

implementation of effective policies

that respond to the real needs of the primary sector."
