According to statistics from the Ministry of Public Security, as of the end of 2023, the number of new energy vehicles nationwide reached 20.41 million, accounting for 6.07% of the total number of vehicles. There will be 7.43 million new new energy vehicles registered in 2023, a year-on-year increase of 38.76%. Liu Bixiang, who works in Guangdong, bought a new energy vehicle last year. Let’s take a look at his journey back home during the Spring Festival in his “new” car.

Liu Bixiang's hometown is in Yongchuan, Chongqing. Seeing rain and snow in many places in the past few days, he specially brought two large bags of food when he set out. At eight o'clock in the evening, the family embarked on the journey home.

Starting from Qingyuan, Guangdong, Liu Bixiang plans to rest in Yongzhou, Hunan at night.

Liu Bixiang's previous car was also a new energy vehicle. This year is his third year of driving a new energy vehicle back home during the Spring Festival. In the past two years, due to concerns about the battery life and charging of new energy vehicles, he would do a lot of planning before setting off, including which road to take, where to charge, and even where to eat. This year, he feels much more relaxed.

At around 10 o'clock in the evening, light rain began to fall in the sky. After driving about 200 kilometers, Liu Bixiang's family arrived at the Yangshan North Service Area. As temperatures drop, so does battery life. And here, there are still more than two hundred kilometers away from the rest hotel.

There are a total of 14 charging guns in this service area. There are many charging guns, but there are many cars and you need to wait in line. Considering that there might still be a queue at the next service area, Liu Bixiang chose to charge in the Yangshan North service area. About 10 minutes later, he got the chance to recharge.

At 3 a.m., Liu Bixiang arrived in Yongzhou, Hunan. At this time, he realized that the northbound route would encounter freezing rain and heavy snow, so he decided to detour to Guiyang and spend a day before returning to Chongqing.

During the journey from Yongzhou to Guiyang, Liu Bixiang chose high-speed charging to reduce the waiting time. The family arrived in Guiyang in the evening. After a short food tour, they headed to the final destination-Chongqing the next afternoon. Finally, 55 hours after setting off from Guangdong, the family returned to their hometown. Liu Bixiang said that it was a blessing to not encounter freezing rain or blizzards on the way back home this year, and no matter how tiring the journey was, it was worth it just to get home.

New energy vehicle owner Liu Bixiang: After two or three days of long-distance self-driving, although I was tired, seeing familiar family members and eating familiar tastes made everything worthwhile. I wish all the riders who are about to return home or are already on the road good luck and safety, and have a happy Chinese New Year! (CCTV News Client)
