Our country is a big country in the production and use of products and equipment. It has large production and sales of various products and equipment, a wide range of applications, and high energy consumption. Some equipment has low energy efficiency levels and has huge potential for upgrading and transformation. The "2024 Edition" combines the new situation and requirements of energy conservation and carbon reduction, benchmarks against domestic and international advanced levels, and clarifies 43 types of energy-using products in 6 categories, including industrial equipment, information and communication equipment, transportation equipment, commercial equipment, household appliances, and lighting fixtures. Equipment energy efficiency requirements, and make arrangements to expand the coverage of product equipment, improve energy-saving standards, coordinate renovation and recycling, advocate green and low-carbon consumption, strengthen application implementation and supervision and inspection, strengthen comprehensive policy support, etc., and guide various regions and Relevant departments and industry enterprises vigorously promote advanced technologies for energy conservation, emission reduction and carbon reduction, and promote energy conservation and carbon reduction of energy-using products and equipment.
In the next step, the National Development and Reform Commission will work with relevant departments to strengthen overall coordination, strengthen organizational guarantees, form departmental synergies, give full play to the leading role of energy efficiency, promote product and equipment updates and upgrades, accelerate energy-saving and carbon-reduction transformation in key areas, and promote the completion of the "14th Five-Year Plan" Binding indicators for energy intensity reduction.
The "2024 Edition" will be implemented from April 1, 2024, and the "Advanced Energy Efficiency Level, Energy Saving Level and Access Level of Key Energy-Using Products and Equipment (2022 Edition)" (Development and Reform Environmental Protection Regulations [2022] No. 1719) will be abolished at the same time. If relevant product and equipment standards have special provisions, those provisions shall prevail.
