The US entertainment giant Disney has presented better quarterly figures than expected - and will be relying on the star power of Taylor Swift and the success of the video game "Fortnite" in the future. Disney boss Bob Iger announced on Wednesday when publishing the business figures for the last three months of 2023 that Swift's concert film "Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour" will be shown exclusively on the Disney+ streaming service from March 15th.

"Viewers will absolutely love the chance to relive the exhilarating Taylor Swift Eras tour whenever they want," said Iger. The US singer's tour film was released in cinemas last October and became the most successful concert film of all time, grossing $261 million.

Disney is also investing 1.5 billion dollars (almost 1.4 billion euros) in the video game developer Epic Games, which is particularly known for the game “Fortnite”. In the future, Disney elements will be integrated into “Fortnite,” while “Fortnite” will flow into Disney’s theme parks and merchandising products.

Last quarter, Disney made $23.5 billion in revenue, similar to the same quarter last year. Profit was $2.15 billion, higher than expected. Among other things, Disney was able to reduce the losses of its streaming platforms Disney+, Hulu and ESPN+ to $138 million. In the same quarter last year there was a loss of $984 million in the segment.
