This was stated by the head of the department for working with the oil price ceiling of the UK Financial Sanctions Office, Olga Dimitrescu, as quoted by Bloomberg.

“We will make it more difficult for Russia to use its shadow fleet, which in turn will lead to more volume returning to the G7 fleet,” she said.

Dimitrescu added that G7 countries are also working with governments around the world regarding the maritime and environmental risks posed by the use of outdated ships.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin extended until June 30, 2024 the effect of special measures in the economy, which were introduced against the backdrop of the West establishing a price ceiling for Russian oil.

The head of state banned the supply of oil and petroleum products from Russia to those who stipulate in contracts the maximum price for Russian energy resources.
