Vice Minister of Commerce Sheng Qiuping introduced at the meeting that according to commercial big data monitoring, the national consumer market was operating smoothly and orderly before the holiday.

  First, there is sufficient supply. Large-scale agricultural and sideline products wholesale markets in various places have sufficient stocks of daily necessities such as grain, oil, meat, eggs, milk, fruits, and vegetables, and the stocks of daily necessities in key wholesale markets and supermarkets have increased by 10% to 30% compared with usual. Major e-commerce platforms will continue to provide delivery services during the Spring Festival.

  Second, prices are stable. On February 5, the average wholesale prices of grain, edible oil, beef and mutton in hundreds of large agricultural and sideline products wholesale markets across the country were basically the same as at the beginning of the month. The prices of pork and eggs increased by 2.1% and 0.7% respectively, and vegetable prices showed seasonal increases.

  Third, sales are booming. As the flavor of the new year gets stronger, major shopping malls, supermarkets, and online platforms are all experiencing sales peaks. Taking into account the consumption characteristics of the Spring Festival, the commerce department launched the month-long "National Online New Year Shopping Festival" on the eighth day of the twelfth lunar month.

  Sheng Qiuping said that in late January, the Ministry of Commerce monitored the sales of retail enterprises to increase by 19.9% ​​month-on-month. In January, the sales volume of key monitoring e-commerce platforms increased by 20% year-on-year. On January 31, in conjunction with the awarding of the third batch of national model pedestrian streets and the announcement of the third batch of Chinese time-honored brands, the 2024 National "Time-honored Brands Carnival·Chinese Products and Trendy Products Celebrate the New Year" series of activities was launched at Fuzhou Sanfang Qixiang Pedestrian Street. Before the Lantern Festival, the "National Consumption Promotion Month" event will be held in Beijing to jointly create a colorful festival atmosphere through government platforms, association promotion, platform participation, and corporate promotions.
