“Today, there are no prerequisites for a shortage of bananas, since a significant number of exporters are represented in Ecuador,” he told TASS.

According to him, Russia’s experience of sanctions pressure has shown that suppliers and retailers can effectively rebuild logistics and maintain a range of goods that are familiar to Russian consumers.

“Therefore, we should not expect a banana crisis in the coming months,” he said.

Karavaev also recalled that among the world leaders in banana production are India, which produces almost five times more bananas than Ecuador, as well as China and Indonesia. At the same time, he emphasized that there are other countries.

Earlier, Rosselkhoznadzor reported that India began supplying bananas to Russia.
