The company has already submitted a petition to the Department of Consumer Rights Protection and Technical Supervision to obtain the document.

“The third electrical connection with Finland will help ensure security of supply, achieve climate and energy policy goals, and will also link the Baltic and Nordic countries even more closely into a single market area,” Elering’s press service said.

The capacity of EstLink 3, according to the plan, will be 700 MW. There are currently two electrical connections between Estonia and Finland: EstLink 1 with a capacity of 350 MW and EstLink 2 with a capacity of 650 MW.

Now Elering continues to search for the location of the damage to the Estlink 2 energy cable, and in early January Estlink 1 temporarily stopped functioning fully due to a malfunction.
