  Recently, Zhaimen Dinyan released the top 100 global chain catering brand stores in 2023, with more than a dozen Chinese tea brands on the list. Compared with the previous issue, the number of stores of Chinese milk tea brands on the list has generally increased.

  Among them, Mixue Bingcheng is the Chinese chain restaurant brand with the largest number of stores in the world, with impressive numbers. Compared with the previous period (data released on November 18, 2022), the number of Mixue Bingcheng's global stores has increased from 22,276 to 36,200. Its number of stores even exceeds KFC, ranking fourth on the list; compared with Starbucks, which is also in the beverage industry, the number of stores is only about 1,000.

  According to the previous growth rate, "Snow King" is not far away from McDonald's, which has the largest number of chain restaurant stores in the world.

  It is worth noting that the prospectus submitted by Mixue Bingcheng to the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in early January stated that the company mainly conducts business through the franchise model, and most of its revenue comes from selling goods and equipment to franchise stores. As of September 30, 2023, more than 99.8% of Mixue Bingcheng's stores are franchise stores, and the rest are self-operated stores.

  Another new tea beverage company, Gu Ming, which submitted a prospectus to the Hong Kong Stock Exchange at the beginning of the new year, is also growing rapidly. Data shows that Gu Ming ranks 15th in the list of global stores, and this number has increased from 6,778 to 9,001.

  The "2023 New Tea Drinks Research Report" stated that behind the rapid development of new tea drink chains is the healthy development of chain franchises. Since 2022, direct-operated brands have gradually opened up franchises to expand the brand's purchasing convenience, effectively reach more users, and complete the channel layout in the third, fourth and fifth tier markets.

Beverages have become the catering category with the highest chain rate

  It is worth noting that some milk tea shops have shown the opposite development trend.

  The "2023 New Tea Drinks Research Report" reports that judging from the changes in the number of new tea drink brand stores of different sizes, the number of small-scale single stores has continued to decrease in the past three years, and most of them have been franchised brands. The number of medium- and large-scale chain stores has continued to decrease in the past three years. The growth rate has slowed down, but the overall situation is still growing at a steady state. The distribution data of new tea drink stores in different city lines collected by Meituan in the past three years show that from first-tier cities to sinking markets, small-scale new tea drink stores (single stores and chains of less than 10 stores) have shown an obvious shrinking trend year by year.   The report also said that because of low investment threshold, high degree of standardization and strong replicability, beverages have the highest chainization rate among all catering categories.   At the same time, the report shows that the national new tea beverage market size is expected to be 149.8 billion yuan in 2023, and the chain rate is generally stable. By 2025, the domestic consumer market is expected to further expand to 201.5 billion yuan.

  Mixue Bingcheng's prospectus stated that the global ready-made beverage market is huge and is expected to show accelerated growth in the future.
