Iraq: an influential pro-Iran group wants to continue attacks against American soldiers

This Friday, February 2, the Iraqi Al-Noujaba movement, an influential pro-Iran armed group, announced that it intended to continue attacks against American troops in the Middle East, despite threats of reprisals brandished by Washington after the death of three of his soldiers in Jordan.

Any (American) strike will result in an appropriate response

,” warned this February 2 – in a press release – Akram al-Kaabi, the leader of Al-Noujaba, a group which is part of the nebula of fighters “Islamic Resistance in

Iraq

” . This grouping of pro-Iran armed movements is directly incriminated by Washington for the deadly drone strike carried out at the end of January against

“Tower 22”

, a logistics base located in the Jordanian desert on the border with Syria.

“

Stopping operations in Gaza

The spokesperson for the American National Security Council, John Kirby, even estimated that the attack which killed three American soldiers “

certainly bore the mark

” of the Hezbollah Brigades, another Iraqi armed group considered to be one of the main leaders of the “ Islamic Resistance in Iraq. The Hezbollah Brigades announced at the end of January “

 the suspension

” of their attacks against American troops in Iraq and Syria, a decision that the al-Noujaba movement assured in its press release on Friday that it understood and “

respected

”. But the "

Islamic Resistance in Iraq", with its other factions, will continue

" its actions, until its "

demands are satisfied

", namely "

the cessation of operations in Gaza

" and the departure of American soldiers from Iraq, promises Al-Noujaba in the press release.

At least 165 attacks

“

As for what comes out of the American psychological warfare machine, which never ceases to thunder, threaten and intimidate, it will not shake us by a thread, and will not dissuade us

,” the press release continues. Since mid-October, at least 165 attacks have targeted American troops and those of the international anti-jihadist coalition in Iraq and Syria, a direct repercussion of the conflict between Israel and the Palestinian movement Hamas in Gaza.
