The chip manufacturer Intel is apparently delaying the construction of a new factory in the USA and points out that the industry's economic situation is gloomy. According to a newspaper report, the $20 billion production facility will not begin operations as planned next year, but rather in 2026.

This is what the “Wall Street Journal” writes. Another reason for the delays is the slow disbursement of state aid.

New building in Magdeburg “on plan”

"We are determined to complete the project and construction work continues," said Intel. However, there are frequent changes in the timing of large projects. The shares of the US semiconductor company listed in Frankfurt am Main fell by two percent on Friday.

Due to weak demand for classic processors for PCs and data centers, the semiconductor manufacturer provided a disappointing outlook a few days ago. Nevertheless, the company is currently planning to expand and build new factories all over the world for the equivalent of tens of billions of euros.

One of them is to be built in Magdeburg for 30 billion euros. Intel's Germany spokeswoman emphasized that this project is still on track.
